Winter Book Club Reading List

It is a gloomy, rainy day here and I am snuggled up working from home per usual.  This year, I made a goal of “Netflix-ing” less and reading more, trust me I still love my TV shows to relax at night, but I think so much beauty and inspiration can be found in reading!

I put together a list of my favorite books and cookbooks that I am enjoying this winter—each of these comes with my full stamp of approval!

What are you reading these days? I would LOVE to know in the comments below!

Present over Perfect by Shauna Niequist: If you ever feel like your life is spinning quickly out of control by constantly feeling the pressure to be perfect and to be a yes ma’am, this book is raw, honest and encouraging. I absolutely love her writing style and you will feel totally inspired!  The chapters are short, so I loved starting each morning reading a few pages.

Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner: This book is SO refreshing—both that the answers to contentment aren’t found in living the “hustle” life or the “minimalistic” life either, but rather in the process and figuring out what truly matters to YOU!  Above all else, this book encourages grace in the process, something I absolutely love!

Fed & Fit by Cassy Garcia: I pretty much adore everything about Cassy Joy!!! This book is so comprehensive and will truly inspire you in your health journey from eating to fitness to finding joy in the process!

The Little Book of Hygge: Did you know that despite living in the gloomiest place, the Danes are some of the happiest people on earth?! The cozy atmosphere they create by spending time with your “tribe,” cozying up under blankets, putting away the phones and taking the time to enjoy life’s little moments will truly inspire you!

All the Light We Cannot See: Simply captivating until the very last page, I read this book far too quickly! It tells the tale of hope and desperation, inspired by real events, in occupied France during WW2.  I hope this book gets turned into a movie one day!

Clean Eating with a Dirty Mind by Vanessa Barajas: An old favorite I re-discovered when I was unpacking and truly one of my all time favorite Paleo/Grain-free baking books!

American Wife by Taya Kyle: Prepare the tissues my friends, this book is filled with sorrow and beauty!

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon: You will thank me later for getting you addicted to this series—like the grandma in me wants to stay up all night reading or watching, the TV series is equally addicting, but don’t even go look unless you have a rainy weekend at home to devote! If you love history, romance, adventure and intrigue, you will love this series!

Pride & Prejudice: I always love reading a classic and Pride and Prejudice never gets old! I love the language, vocabulary and the writing style always helps me sound more “educated” something I can always work on!
