Mango Turmeric Detox Shake with Healthy Fats

Because every “detox drink” should look this fabulous…right?!  I am not a big fan of words like “detox” or “diet”…truthfully I would rather just eat a steak! And however glamorous or sexy a lot of juice cleanses and detoxes can be, yes the adorable packaging and marketing gets me too, chances are these programs aren’t that great of for you!

Most often, drinking your meals just results in a lot of sugar entering your system which can actually really harm you in the long run, mess up your metabolism, empty your piggy bank and make you grumpy…and who wants to be grumpy?!  We just did a whole podcast episode on this subject, so I won’t bore you with all the scientific info, just listen to that episode instead!

But in all seriousness, our bodies absolutely need real, nourishing foods in order to properly detox, and good healthy fats too I might add!

I know a lot of people are fans of smoothies and “detox” type drinks, so I put together this drink for you all—full of healthy, real food ingredients and lots of good quality fats that will help your body naturally detox and loose weight.

I had a jar of Primal Palate’s ground turmeric on hand and turmeric has endless health benefits.  Let’s just say it’s kind of like the new kale!  Turmeric is something that has been used for centuries and has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties all of which will help your body naturally flush out toxins! I added frozen mango, because it makes it sweet and turmeric definitely has a distinct taste, so I started out with only a dash, but for you brave souls, you might add a bit more!  Whole milk plain yogurt (I recommend grass-fed or sheep’s milk yogurt) contains lots of live cultures and probiotics that keep your digestive and immune systems strong, well thats a win!

This mango milkshake will keep you satisfied during a busy morning or for an afternoon snack!  And of course, don’t forget the toppings, because they will make you happy!  So yes, this sort of “detox drink” I can get on board with!

Mango Turmeric Detox Shake with Healthy Fats

A sweet milkshake filled with healthy fats to keep you satisfied and spicy turmeric to help cleanse your system!

makes 2


  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1 cup whole fat plain yogurt (use coconut milk for dairy free)
  • 1 tbsp grass-fed collagen peptides
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or coconut butter
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp ground turmeric*
  • garnish with whipped coconut cream, toasted coconut and cacao nibs

*I recommend Primal Palate’s healing spice blend.


  • Add all ingredients to a blender.  Blend on high until smooth.
  • Pour into two glasses and garnish as desired.
