“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”

— G.K. Chesterton

This Thanksgiving, I am super excited—mostly because this is the first year since my freshman year of college, almost 8 years ago, that our entire family will be together!  And my hubby will be with me, something I can’t say of all our Thanksgivings due to deployments or what nots!

My sister and I were dreaming up our table for Thanksgiving day, and one thing lead to the next and knowing me, shortly thereafter a full blown photoshoot was happening!

This holiday season can be as festive, simple or complicated as YOU choose to make it!  You can choose to have a melt down and stress or you can choose to do normal life, with just a bit more flair, sparkle, flavor and color! I choose the latter and choose to celebrate.

It has been so much fun talking about the holidays and encouraging you all to still continue to live healthy, vibrant lives! If you haven’t checked out our Colorful Eats Podcast “Festive & Sustainable Holiday Gift Menu” or the awesome giveaway that goes with that, I highly encourage you to do so!

This table was super fun to put together with my sister—ladies, great things can happen when we focus on community over competition.  I will be honest, I pretty much just grabbed the flowers from Trader Joe’s, and did all the behind the scenes camera work and edits.  So gather, grab a friend or your hubby, pick up some flowers, open that bottle of wine and celebrate a spirit of Thanksgiving!

For flowers, we simply chose what was readily available at the market.  With all the commotion that Thanksgiving brings, I recommend purchasing your flowers early as they will all be picked over by the day before Thanksgiving.  We chose hardy flowers like these amazing cabbage plants, orange berries, seeded eucalyptus and hydrangeas—all of which lasted a week with daily timing and fresh water.  We also gathered the white pumpkins from around the house and used what we already had!

Both my sister and I have white dinner plates, I have these white Juliska ones and she has these ones, but white dinner plates are a great starting point because then when it comes time for different seasons or holidays you can easily accent by changing your salad plates and cups to match.

We prefer mason jars for water as they go with everything and then you aren’t stressed if they break (hey-yo talking to myself)! You can accent with some festive gold-rimmed wine glasses or other colorful cocktail cups.

Happy Thanksgiving Friends!
