Simple tips for spring cleaning your pantry and creating a healthy, delicious gluten-free pantry!

How to Stock a Gluten-Free Pantry by Colorful Eats

When we moved to Spain a few months ago, I had to start all over with my pantry! Building a grain-free and gluten-free pantry does take a little bit of time and intention, but in all honesty it isn’t all that complicated.  So, today I wanted to share my tips and tricks with you.

A few of the most frequently asked questions I receive are:  (1) where do you get my ingredients and (2) how do you make healthy eating seem so practical and just apart of everyday life?

Well, newsflash—I don’t have some crazy, hidden secret to making it happen, in fact you might be surprised by how few items I actually keep on hand.

I think keeping your pantry and snack shelf stocked with the foods and flavors you love is one of the best ways to make healthy eating a lifestyle habit.  That way when you want to make a batch of grain-free chocolate chip cookies or homemade ice cream or even want to reach for a health snack to pack in your suitcase, you are armed and prepared!

When we get desperate or want something sweet, having options on hand is a key to success!

So welcome to my kitchen and let’s take a look around! How to Stock a Gluten-Free Pantry by Colorful Eats

3 Tips to Keep in Mind When Cleaning Out and Stocking Your Pantry

  1. Ingredient Check: If you don’t recognize or can’t pronounce the ingredients, just throw it away.  Seriously just toss it, as the food is either going to go to waste in you or go to waste in the trash.
  1. Shop Smart: Don’t purchase things you don’t need or don’t absolutely love.  This particularly applies to things on sale—often price or a sales tag attracts us, but buying things just because they are on sale isn’t going to be good in the long run.  I have often purchases things just because they are on sale and find they sit in my pantry forever.  Now, if a brand or item you love is on sale, go for it!!
  1. Keep it Simple: Really, you don’t need much—you all would probably be shocked by how minimalistic my pantry is, but I have what I need and what I love.  There are times when you may need a special ingredient to make a special recipe, but that realistically isn’t the every day.  So keep it simple and keep just what you need.  If you only really need 1 or 2 jars of something, simply purchase that amount.  Often over purchasing or buying in bulk goes to waste in the long run.
