Mixing it up a bit today and chatting all things skincare—both nutritionally and personally speaking, with what has actually worked in my own life!

You all know by now, I am passionate about safe skincare, and you can read more HERE to find out why as well as my favorite brands and items!

I truly am thankful that I have never dealt with severe acne issues, don’t worry I have a host of other issues!  But I have dealt with frequent breakouts, pimples and blemish issues, and darn it is frustrating!  They seem to come out of no where and always at the most inopportune times—always before a big event or photoshoot! UGHH!!!

Most conventional acne treatments or plans are just full of chemicals—chemicals that are serious hormone and endocrine disruptors.  But do you want to know one of the biggest causes of acne—hormones.  Yes, that lovely little word!

So conventional acne treatments, put a bandaid on things, but also set you up for long term issues, like disrupting your hormones and eventually leading to more acne and skin issues…see the circle here?!

So what has worked for me?!

Well, you must attack this issue both externally and internally—and I can say that both are equally important.

I firmly believe that we cannot just address the visible issue, like acne, we have to address the underlying cause!

I personally have noticed a HUGE difference in my skin by doing some gentle detox by using essential oils.  Within 2-3 months, my skin has made noticeable improvements as well as my monthly female issues, but more on that later.

Externally

  • Rejuvenating Toner Pads—I recently grew to LOVE these.  I use them 3 times per week and have noticed a huge difference in keeping blemishes and breakouts under control.  Seriously, I can’t recommend them enough, especially to younger girls since they love cleansing pads like this!
  • Purifying Charcoal Mask—Great for an in-home deep, “spa-like” treatment either 2 times a week as a mask for even as a spot treatment.  Charcoal has the ability to “pull junk” out of your skin and detoxify!  Was off after 10 minutes.
  • Fancy Face Serum—My daily favorite, this fancy face serum not only nourishes your skin but also is formulated to repair damaged skin and blemishes as well.  And if you are scared of adding more oil to your skin, your body actually needs it! Keeping your face hydrated by applying oils externally, will mean your skin will produce less of the bad oils, that lead to acne!
  • Blemish Purifying Serum—I have been using this as a spot treatment since high school and I absolutely love her products! I usually spot treat my skin at night with this serum, a little goes a long way!

Internally

**Please note that when I say internally, these oils are working to help issues internally (supporting your body from the inside out), but I do not actually take the oils internally, I usually diffuse or apply to the bottoms of my feet.

  • Geranium Essentail Oil—This oil has long been used for skin issues and truly can promote that “healthy glow!”  Geranium can also help balance hormones, improve wrinkles and and calm acne flares or blemishes.
  • Frankensince Essential Oil—I love this oil as it has so many functions, one being cleansing the body on a cellular level, something so important for skin but also overall health! Frankensince can help calm blemishes, soothe and rejuvenate the skin.
  • Zendocrine Essential Oil—This powerful oil helps support the bodies natural ability to rid itself of unwanted substances like toxins and excess or bad estrogens—buildup that eventually can cause your skin to breakout.  Personally, I apply two drops to the bottoms of my feet daily, and after several months, it has seriously helped my skin, blood sugar and especially my very painful monthly cramps! (Read more to get your free sample from ME!)
  • Garden of Life, Once Daily Probiotics—Poor digestion can not only lead to horrible stomach aches and moodiness, but also can greatly affect your skin.  The skin is often a reflection of what is going on in the inside.  Toxins eventually need to come out, even if that is through the skin!
  • Grass-Fed Collagen Peptides—Collagen peptides are an easily digestible complete form of proteins or amino acids that can greatly help your skin, joints, hair, nails and digestion.

To help and encourage YOU towards helping your skin from the inside out, with any new Essential Oil Membership I am sending you a sample of my favorite essential oil blend—Zendocrine.  It has made such a difference in my life that I want to pass that along to you! {Offer valid until the end of September.}

If you have struggled with hormonal acne, acne or experienced the emotional struggle of it all, be sure to check out this podcast episode with my good friend Anya on Controlling Hormonal Acne!

Be sure to shoot me an email if you would like more information on detoxing both your skin, hormones and liver with essential oils! This has made such a difference in my life and skin and I love sharing that with you!

I know there are lots of women, teenagers and even men out there that seriously struggle with the physical and emotional effects of acne.  So share, share this information and let’s start educating and empowering others!

Please remember, this is me sharing personal advice and experiences and not intended as medical advice.
