Golden milk is a spiced, creamy drink full of powerful nutrients, and delicious too!

Golden milk started getting popular a few years ago and I honestly didn’t understand all the hype! But recently I’ve been loving drinking golden milk after dinner for a pre-bed treat, but its fabulous at any time of day. It’s so warm and comforting without the caffeine or sugar rush (read my post on going caffeine free!).

Over the past year, I’ve been going through some pretty hefty detox protocols—liver congestion and heavy metal toxicity were some of the root causes for a lot of my symptoms—migraines, low energy, thyroid dysfunction, hormone imbalance, anxiety, etc. While is has taken some time, the body is brilliant at detoxifying and healing when you give it the resources and roadmap it needs. It’s been a long but beautiful process to watch unfold!

Turmeric has long been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicines and is a powerful herb! Turmeric is anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant due to the chemical compound called curcuminoids and can be very helpful in helping the liver flush out toxins. Turmeric is a great herb to add to your daily routine to encourage natural detoxification.

Vanilla Golden Milk

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups milk (nut milk, coconut milk, grass-fed milk or combo)*
  • 3/4 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon or 1 cinnamon stick (my favorite!)
  • 1/8 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2-1tsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp collagen
  • 1-2 tsp vanilla ghee, optional

*My personal favorite way is half coconut milk and half water! So creamy.

Directions

  • Add all the ingredients to a small sauce pan on medium heat. Add the cinnamon stick while it warms, if using a cinnamon stick.
  • Use a whisk or hand frother to blend until smooth. Remove the cinnamon stick and discard.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!
