Decorating my sweet babies rooms [AKA Nursery] has always been the highlight of my pregnancies. It takes me out of the misery and trauma I experience during pregnancy and gives me hope!
Hudson’s nursery came together at the end and even after he was born due to major shipping delays. But I have to say it’s one of my favorite places in our home. It’s so light, airy and peaceful.
When we found out Hudson would be a boy I knew I wanted to do something nautical—as a tribute to my husband’s career in the Navy as well as many of our travels while we were stationed in Europe. Sweet memories of our trips to Ireland and Iceland came to mind—the seaside towns, sandy beaches and vintage boats.
Nursery Artworks
This artwork was my starting point. I incorporated many pieces we already had including Remington’s lamb mobile— something I purchased when I was first pregnant with her after our trip to Ireland where there are lambs all over the coast cliffs.
I know he will grow into this room with time, and these pieces, especially the dresser will last for years.
We have already had so many sweet moments in his special place. I am not a designer by any means but putting together my sweet children nursery has always given me such calm. These spaces to be their shelter, their resting place, their creative spot to dream.
I find myself escaping to his little corner often throughout the day. Sometimes I even take my laptop upstairs and work while listening to the sweet sounds of his breath.
