Is there anything better than getting cozy and relaxing before bed? I am all about getting into pajamas at the start of the evening, often even before dinnertime! It’s truly one of my favorite ‘self-care’ activities as it makes for such a delightful evening, even during the dinner and bath time rush with little ones.
I’m also all about thinking about the environmental impact my life has on the world. And although it’s nearly impossible making the perfect choice in our everyday life, there are some simple things we can do to reduce our carbon footprint. I try my best to use sustainable clothing brands, those whose manufacturing process uses less water promote fair trade practices and have better quality controls when it comes to avoiding toxic chemicals in their materials.
And these practices extend to my pajama sets as well! I try to find the best sustainable pajamas for my whole family that is made with mostly organic materials and follow high environmental standards. I didn’t think finding pajamas made with sustainable materials was possible, but there are so many sleepwear brands that really care about the environment!
Here’s everything you need to know about my favorite brands, what eco-friendly pajamas are, and how to make sure you’re making a great choice when it comes to choosing materials.
What is a natural fiber?
Natural fibers —such as cotton, wool, silk, linen, and bamboo— are made from natural materials that come from plants, animals, or minerals, whereas synthetic material fibers are man-made materials typically formed through a chemical process. Conventional cotton, although it sounds like good material, is often treated with multiple pesticides that are bad for us. On the other hand, in organic cotton products, pesticides and synthetic fertilizers are not permitted, making them a better choice for both the soil health and, as a result, the quality of our pajamas.
Pajamas are clothing items most of us wear for a significant period of time, and at night our bodies detox and restore, so choosing natural fiber fabrics and avoiding synthetic fibers like polyester and acrylic can help decrease our body’s toxic load. That’s why it’s so important to use organic fabrics (especially organic sleepwear) when possible.

Mirth // I adore their prints, and they are so soft, cool, and luxurious to sleep in. The thick, soft elastic waistband in the pajama pants is the best, and I wore these during pregnancy and postpartum, and they were so comfortable. These run large, even if you like an oversized sleep feel like I do.
Mate the Label // My go-to for organic cotton basics; I just adore their shirts and thermals for every day. Their basics are so soft I often wear them as pajamas and loungewear. Their quality and colors stay soft and vibrant even after many washes, for sure worth the investment. Runs true to size, maybe a tad on the roomy side.

Simple Folk Co // Great neutral options for onesies, loungewear, and pajamas. We adore their sweaters in our house. They are of such great quality, and everything is so soft. Typically fits just a bit on the larger, cozy side.
Pehr // They just started making organic cotton basics for babies, and they are so silky and soft. It fits a bit smaller, size up to last longer. Love their sleep sacks too!
Petit Plume // So timeless and fun, we love these, especially for Christmas time. They use high quality, very soft cotton and no added flame retardant chemicals. Adult sizes are very true to size but for littles, size up for longer wear.
Monica and Andy // Love their quality. Fits just a tad small.
Hanna Anderson // They have some great organic cotton options for babies and older children. Some of their fabrics seem very thin and not the softest, in my opinion.
